Mateo

Mateo is a platform developed on Claris FileMaker to build management systems adapted to how companies actually operate.

It relies on a complete functional base that can, in some contexts, be used as-is. In other situations, it serves as a starting point to build a system adapted to the company’s processes and organization.

For example, a full workflow can be structured as: quote → order → production → invoicing.

Why Mateo exists

In many companies, management tools are built gradually.

At first, a few spreadsheets are enough. Over time, operations become more complex, files multiply, and information becomes harder to track.

Companies then face two options: adopt standard software that doesn’t quite fit their operations, or consider a heavy and costly ERP project.

Mateo comes from this observation. After many projects, it became clear that a large part of what was needed kept recurring. Mateo brings this base together to build systems adapted to real operations, without starting from scratch each time.

Spreadsheets everywhere

Over time, files multiply and information becomes scattered. Coordination increasingly relies on manual work.

Software that doesn’t reflect operations

Standard software often imposes its own logic, forcing the company to adapt its processes to the tool.

ERP projects that are too heavy

Traditional ERPs can involve significant investment and long implementations, often disproportionate for many SMEs.

Operations that are truly unique

In build-to-order or custom production environments, processes vary significantly from one company to another.

What Mateo is

Mateo is both a functional management system and a platform used to develop systems adapted to real operations.

The platform combines three essential elements.

A complete functional base

  • Quoting and pricing
  • Orders and project lifecycle
  • Invoicing
  • Procurement
  • Inventory management
  • Operations and project tracking

In some contexts, this base can be used almost as-is, with little or no additional development.

A system designed to be adapted

Each company has its own processes. Mateo allows features to be added or adapted so the system reflects how the company actually works.

The system does not impose a single way of working.

An architecture designed to evolve

Operations evolve over time. Mateo allows the system to evolve progressively: adding modules, adapting processes, or integrating new tools.

This approach keeps systems useful and consistent over the long term.

Different from standard software

Traditional management software generally works the same way for all companies.

It provides predefined functions and a fixed logic. Companies must adapt their processes to the software.

Mateo takes a different approach.

The system serves as a base to build a tool that reflects the company’s real operations: processes, organization, and constraints.

This does not necessarily mean a complex project. In many cases, a large part of the system already exists and serves as a starting point.

Standard software

  • Predefined functions and processes
  • The company adapts to the software
  • Limited customization

System built with Mateo

  • Built around real operations
  • Company processes drive the design
  • The system evolves with the business

A platform for building systems

When a company decides to implement a management system, project complexity is often a concern.

Mateo reduces this complexity because a large part of the system already exists.

The project does not start from zero. Much of the system is already in place and has been proven in real contexts.

This allows

  • faster project starts
  • reduced development risk
  • reliance on proven mechanisms
  • focus on the company’s specific needs

Development then mainly consists of adapting and completing the system so it fits the company’s operations.

Typical starting points

Mateo can already serve as a solid starting point in several operational contexts.

Some organizations use a large part of the system as-is, while others build on the base to create a more specific system.

Production and printing

From quote to invoice: order tracking, production planning, coordination of steps, and delivery.

Build-to-order manufacturing

Quote management, conversion to orders, planning, and tracking production through to delivery.

Operational coordination

Project organization, task tracking, information centralization, and day-to-day coordination.

What Mateo is not

Mateo can be confused with an ERP or off-the-shelf software. It is not.

Mateo is not

  • a standard ERP installed the same way in every company
  • software sold as-is with fixed features
  • a SaaS product

Mateo is a platform used to build management systems adapted to each company’s real operations.

Built on Claris FileMaker

Mateo is developed on Claris FileMaker.

FileMaker has been used for many years to build custom business applications. It combines a robust database, rapid development tools, and strong flexibility to model business processes.

This foundation allows systems to be developed and evolved while maintaining stability.

Mateo builds on this to provide a consistent and durable base.

Toward a system adapted to your business

Mateo provides the technical and functional base.

Each project then consists of building a system that reflects the company’s real operations: processes, constraints, and way of working.
